Bienenstich (German Almond Cream Cake)

Our German almond cream cake features delicious vanilla flavoured cream, sandwiched between two light golden sponges. The cake is topped with a delectable mix of caramel and almond flakes for a taste that’s out of this world. This German almond cream cake from The Sausage Man arrives frozen, so simply pop it in the freezer then defrost when you’re ready to enjoy it. Our almond cake is delicious served with ice cream, cream (both whipped and poured), or custard. It’s also heavenly paired with summer fruits like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, or simply enjoy a slice on its own!

Our Almond Cream Cake Serves 8 Easily

At 800g, this German Almond Cream Cake is easy to divide into eight 100g portions, but it could also be divided into six for a larger portion each, or ten to push it a little further. It makes a great dessert option for parties or gatherings, and would be perfect for a summer picnic too!

    The cake tastes nice, but I was a tad disappointed (well, I should have read the ingredients before ordering). A “proper German Bienenstich” is made with yeast dough, this one is a sponge. Don´t get me wrong, it doesn´t taste bad, but it lacks in authenticity. Price is fair though. Sausageman, you have such a great Bread-Baker – can´t you ask him to bake “proper” Bienenstich (and maybe Mohnstriezel and all the other lovely yeast-cakes from Germany)?
