Description
Oberlander 20cm
Add the Oberlander to your menu today. You definitely need this delicious German speciality, your customers will love it. Haven’t heard of it? Maybe you know of this sausage but it’s many other names:
- Wollwurst
- Skinless Bratwurst
- Skinless Weisswurst
Commonly called the Wollwurst and once cooked you will realise how the sausage got it’s woolly name. However, you may also referrer to it as a skinless Bratwurst or Weisswurst. Very similar to the traditional Bratwurst, but with one big difference, this version is skinless.
HOW TO SERVE THE OBERLANDER
Traditionally the Oberlander is boiled and then chilled to give them their iconic woolly surface. You can serve these after boiling, however we would recommend frying them next. For best results coat in milk and then sauté the sausage, giving them a nice colour. Simply serve with a generous helping of sweet mustard alongside a classic potato salad – Guten Appetit
ANOTHER CURRYWURST OPTION
In Southern Germany you can often find an Oberlander being used in a currywurst. Simply create your Currywurst in the same way but, instead of chopping up a Bratwurst, grab your Wollwurst slice and serve with curry ketchup and curry powder. Obviously, here at The Sausage Man we have tried this out and 100% would recommend.

Jane Robinson (verified owner) –
These Oberlander sausages are massive!! I bought a pack for a family BBQ, as I wanted a non-smoked sausage without that ‘snap’ when chowing down. They were delicious, and went down a storm.
The point deduction is because initially it wasn’t clear from the website (or packaging) whether these were pre-sooked. The advice on the website is confusing – “You can serve these after boiling, however we would recommend frying them next.” However, further down the page it says that they are pre-cooked!?
As I wanted to be sure, I popped them into the oven first and then they went on to the BBQ for that charr-grill flavour, which actually worked really well. Don’t let the ‘woolly’ description put you off, as the texture is fine.
Buy big rolls though!!! =)
