We are pleased to announce that we have now officially launched our new award-winning beer range from Engel. These Engel beers from Germany are now available exclusively to The Sausage Man in the UK.
Historic Brewery
Biermanufaktur Engel dates back to 1738, and has been run by the same family since 1877. The fourth and fifth generations of the Fach family are now managing the brewery, leading it to become one of the most decorated in Germany.
High Purity
Brewed traditionally, using methods honed over 275 years, Engel beers have been perfected through the centuries. The German Reinheitsgebot (Purity Law) of 1516 requires the use of high-quality water, as well as the best malt and selected hops, making for some exceptional beers.
Beer & Bratwurst
Marketing Director here at The Sausage Man, Jorg Braese, said: “Beer and Bratwurst go together perfectly – there’s really nothing like having a nice cold pint with your sausage. We have noticed that it can be hard to find a great range of German beers in UK shops, without finding a specialist retailer, so it seemed natural for us to expand in this area.
Fantastic Range

Our focus is always on finding the best German products to bring to the UK market, and Engel fits perfectly with this goal. When I’m in Germany, I always drink Engel beer myself.”
Huge Variety
The Engel range includes options for everyone. With light “Hell” and dark “Dunkel” beers, with sweeter and more bitter options, as well as various different strengths – from 0.5% up to 5.5% ABV. There are filtered and unfiltered options, barley or wheat craft beers, and various hop types to choose from. You also have the option of two organic beers – the Engel Keller Pils, and the Engel Kellerbier Alcohol Free.
Kellerbier
Keller beer is unfiltered, left to mature over time in dark cellars, and is the most popular type of beer in Germany. The gold beers in this range are nice and malty, while the Dunkel (dark) beers have a mild bitterness that is a must-taste for any beer lover. Engel also produces seasonal beers, like the Weihnachtsbier (Christmas Beer Special). A very tasty and traditional German craft beer which goes perfectly with Goose or Turkey at any holiday feast.
German Radler (Shandy)
In addition to the Alcohol Free Kellerbier, Engel also have two extremely flavourful Nutural Radlers, in both Hell and Dunkel varieties. Similar to a British shandy, Radler is made with zesty lemonade and unfiltered Engel beer. These NaturRadlers are extremely refreshing thirst quenchers, and are only 2.5% ABV.
