How to serve our Bratwurst XXL
Bratwurst is a traditional German product loved by many. Brat means ‘finely chopped meat’ and wurst meaning ‘sausage’. This sausage has been dated back as far as 600 years, so it’s safe to say it’s a staple in German cuisine, and it’s one we really love here at Sausage Man!
At Sausage Man we serve a whole array of different types and flavours of Bratwurst, but sometimes you just can’t beat the original!
Our XXL Bratwurst are 25cm in length and are packed full of flavour. A combination of pork and fresh herbs make these a delicious option for any BBQ. But it’s not just about the sausage… it’s important to serve the right toppings and sides too. Here are some of our favourites.
How To Cook Them
Our Sausage Man Bratwurst will arrive to you already pre-cooked, so all you need to do is warm them through and give them some colour on the BBQ! In just five minutes, or ten from frozen, you will have a delicious German sausage ready to eat. You don’t even need to fire up the BBQ; these bratwursts can also be cooked under the grill, in the oven or be shallow fried. They are versatile and easy to cook for any occasion!
Serve with Sauerkraut
A traditional topping or side if you are going German with your Bratwurst. Sauerkraut is made from thinly sliced and fermented white cabbage.
Sauerkraut is quite punchy in flavour but adds a delicious (and sour) crunch to your Bratwurst. Chef’s tip: wash your sauerkraut if you want to tone down the sourness, and remember that you can fry it in fat for a bit of extra flavour!
Serve with Spaetzle
Spaetzle is another traditional side to go with your Bratwurst. If you don’t want your sausage in a bread roll, then this is a great alternative! Spaetzle is commonly known as ‘German Pasta’, and is made from eggs, flour, and milk.
It’s a typical side served with meat and gravy, so we’d recommend trying it with a Sausage Man Bratwurst if you want something a little different!
Mustard or ketchup?
If you’ve got friends over for a BBQ, then you can’t beat the options of ketchup or mustard served with your Bratwurst. Once grilled, add them to one of our Brioche Baguettes and then choose a topping, or two!
If you can’t decide on which sauce to select, then play it safe and go for both. We’d also recommend throwing on grilled onions too for good measure.
How about fresh sides?
Whilst the meat you’re grilling is the star of the show, sides are also especially important for your BBQ. Accompany your Bratwurst with potato salad, grilled vegetables and coleslaw too.
If you’re feeling a little more adventurous how about a fruity pineapple salsa to top your Bratwurst? The sweetness will balance out well with the pork and herb flavours!
There is no wrong way to serve a Bratwurst, they make a great foundation for any meal and can be eaten with lots of different sides and toppings. Sausage Man XXL Bratwurst are just one of our favourite products, so if you haven’t tried them yet we recommend adding them to your next order. Enjoy!
