Which sausage to use?
We highly recommend using Halal turkey hotdogs for this recipe. They are casing-free, making them ideal for creating the realistic look of severed fingers. This also means they have a smooth texture that’s easy to work with when carving out the fingernail beds and knuckle lines.
They are not only visually appealing but also taste delicious. The high-quality turkey meat provides a savoury flavour that enhances the overall experience of the dish.
Ingredients
- 1 Halal Turkey Hot Dogs from The Sausage Man™
- 1 St Pierre Brioche Hot Dog rolls
- 1 Ketchup bottle
Instructions
- Using a knife, carve out small squares at one end of each hotdog to create the fingernail bed. On the opposite end, make several shallow cuts across the hotdog to create knuckle lines. You can make two sets of knuckle lines for a more realistic look.
- Shallow fry the Turkey Hot Dog, 5 mins from chilled or 10mins from frozen.
- Split the hotdog buns and place them on a serving platter. For an extra spooky touch, you can tear the buns slightly to make them look more ragged.
- Place each cooked hotdog in a bun. Add ketchup at the base of the hotdog to mimic blood oozing from the severed finger.
Halloween Presentation
It’s time to present your Halloween hotdog fingers in a way that makes them stand out and enhances the spooky vibe of your party. Here are some tips:
> Themed Decorations – Surround the platter with Halloween-themed props such as plastic spiders, fake cobwebs, or miniature pumpkins.
> Creative Condiments – Use food coloring to tint your condiments. For example, green mustard for “Monster Mucus” or purple ketchup for a witchy touch.
> Dim Lighting – Serve the hotdogs under dim or colored lighting to create an eerie atmosphere.
